What is your thought process prior to your attack?
The answers to last week’s question were very, very thought-provoking. It’s interesting to have fencing’s mental aspects so resoundingly emphasized; this tends to be a semi-invisible part of the sport – i.e., I don’t think your average fighter thinks about it very much. I was chewing this brainfood over during a particularly painful game of reversi (damn computer, always out-strategizing me!) when I realized that there was something else I was very curious about: how do other fencers plan their attacks? Do you have an overall scheme? Is it moment-to-moment decision? Do you test your opponent and then decide her doom? Reveal the devious workings of your hallowed minds! (or, in Wistric’s case, hollow mind…)
